Format SQL
Paste a query and get it back with uppercase keywords, one clause per line, and indented joins and conditions. String literals and quoted names are preserved exactly.
Formatted SQL
When NOT to use SQL Formatter
- It is a layout formatter, not a parser — exotic vendor syntax or malformed SQL may come out imperfectly aligned, so eyeball critical queries before running them.
- It cannot optimize or lint your SQL; for execution plans and index advice you need your database's own tooling.
Questions people ask
Is my input sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste is uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Which SQL dialects are supported?
The formatter works on standard SQL structure (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, joins, subqueries) and is dialect-neutral — it formats layout and keyword case without parsing vendor-specific syntax.
Does it change my query's meaning?
No. It only adjusts whitespace, line breaks, and keyword capitalization. String literals, quoted identifiers, and comments are preserved exactly.
