Encode or decode a URL
Component mode is for a single value inside a query string. Full-URL mode keeps the structure of a whole URL intact.

When NOT to use URL Encoder & Decoder
- Encoding is not encryption — anyone can decode a percent-encoded value, so never rely on it to hide secrets or personal data.
- Double-encoding (encoding already-encoded text) produces %2520-style output that most servers will not decode twice — encode exactly once, at the boundary.
Questions people ask
Is my input sent to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste is uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere.
What is the difference between component and full-URL mode?
Component mode encodes everything that has a special meaning in a URL (spaces, &, =, ?, /), which is right for a single value inside a query string. Full-URL mode keeps the URL structure (://, /, ?, &) intact and only encodes the unsafe characters.
Why did decoding fail?
Decoding fails when the text contains an incomplete percent sequence (like %2 or %zz). The tool shows the browser's own error so you can find the broken spot.
