When NOT to use Random Letter Generator
- It generates letters only — for letters+digits strings (test IDs, codes), use the Random String Generator instead.
- A random letter is not a fair substitute for a full draw process in regulated settings.
Questions people ask
How random is it, really?
It uses your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with rejection sampling and unbiased shuffling — the same quality of randomness used by security software, not the predictable Math.random().
What does 'exclude look-alikes' do?
It removes easily confused letters from the pool — O, I, and l — so generated letters are unambiguous when read aloud or handwritten. (Digits aren't generated here at all.)
Can it generate more than one letter at a time?
Yes — choose any quantity from 1 to 100 letters per batch.
